Many people would say no. I disagree. I think that eventually we will have world peace. Here is why:

Border disputes:
1. Borders have stabilized over the last couple of decades (less than a hundred years ago most of the Middle East was under the Ottoman empire (before that it was the Roman Empire), less than seventy years ago most of Europe was under German rule). Borders used to change all the time.
2. The world community learned from Hitler not to allow country's land-grabs. And for the first time in human history of the planet there is a world community that can enforce land grabs. For example, when Iraq invaded Kuwait the world community responded by pushing back.

Economics is King:
1. War has changed from being territorial to being economic. Economies compete for market dominance instead of territories. This new battle is far more productive and has a tendancy to build instead of destory. (whew!)
2. Trade requires relative stability

I think that world peace will happen because the international community has decided that peace is a major goal. And the international community has never been more powerful and capable of achieving its goals.

No. Life and human nature prevents it. We thrive on conflict- be it a struggle between nations, a struggle between individuals, a struggle between species or a struggle between ideals. if you want a idea of how futile the prospect of peace on earth is, then look at the natural world. Underneath the apparent peace, there is a never-ending war for survival going on between every flower, plant, insect, mammal, bird......

We fight each other and the universe both physically and mentally- each one of us striving to prove ourselves. This provides an important function. If we did not have conflict, we would cease evolving (no need for new ideas) and eventually die out from lack of innovation. It is war which keeps us alive. The only way i percieve world peace for humanity is if humanity no longer exists. Even the last man on earth would fight- fight for survival and fight his fate, and ultimately, go crazy and fight himself.

For peace on earth, there should be no life on earth. Even then, it could be considered that conflict continues. Tectonic plates grind against each other. Natural forces attempt to sway the planet- forces from as far away as the moon or even the sun. The universe was created in an explosion. Violence and conflict permeate even the deepest laws of physics.

Yes it is possible for there to be world peace. Unfortunately when that happens there will be problems such as planetary unrest where humans who have colonized other planets will have problems with other colonies. Thus I believe that the world will be at peace when the world becomes united to defend itself against outside threats such as other colonies.

Not at this point in time, if there was, there would be no one left for controllers to control, no serious issues to resolve, no one to put the blame on when politicians messed up. Which would mean peace and equality for all.

Yes, after all of America's enemies are destroyed.

By enemies I mean everyone who is against capitalism, which is the only means of achieving freedom.

Theocracy, communism, fascism equals slavery and war.
