The heart normally pumps blood and glucose. It's a constant ratio that keeps urination at homeostasis. The blood is filtered through the kidneys. When the ratio of glucose become greater than that which normally holds the mixture of blood and glucose at homeostatic equilibrium, the body compensates by expelling more urine because of the osmotic pressure placed on the functional units of the kidneys by the extra glucose.
Expulsion of extra urine is the body's attempt to bring the blood:glucose ratio back into homeostatic equilibrium.
