This is not the question to ask, rather tell me who's better. Michael Jordan played with Scottie Pippen(future HOF) and a bunch of scrubs. Six NBA titles, Five MVP awards, six NBA Finals MVPs, 14 time all star. Remember? During the 90's, it was Michael Jordan and everybody else. He stopped Gary Payton, Stockton and Malone twice, Charles Barkley, and Patrick Ewing. He hit more clutch shots than anyone else in NBA history. Jordan was bigger than life. His shoe has sold more than any other brand. He has had more commercials than any other athlete of his time. And someone has the nerve to even consider putting LeBron James in the same breath with His Airness. LeBron isn't as good as D Wade at this point. Jordan is the greatest athlete of all time. Kareem, Magic, Bird, Dr. J, Wilt, Bill Russell, he's a full cut above them all. Let's face it and end the debate right now. If you're not with Jordan, then you've already lost. And my friend used to boast about Penny H. in the 90's. What a laugh.

I do agree about Lebron- he is definitely a good player, but Jordan?

Not yet.

However, you are forgetting something. In the 90's, there was no great 'team'; just great players who had mediocre teams. Therefore, having two stars, the Bulls had an advantage, resulting in the championships. Wilt Chamberlain, I think, is a superior player. Bill Russel, a superior player. As a die-hard Warriors fan, Wilt is better. Both of these men AVERAGED over 20 rebounds in their careers and 15 (Russell) and 30 (Wilt) points. Ironically, Wilt and Michael had the same point average. Also, please tell me someone who can average the 3rd best Points Per Game average, 1st in assists per game, 1st in rebounding, first in field goal percentage, MVP, most minutes played,- in the same year! Michael couldn't do it, Russell couldn't do it- only Wilt. Wilt was also an All-Star every year he played in the NBA. Wilt is rumored to have almost averaged a triple double had blocks been recorded when he played. Also, Wilt AVERAGED 50 points in a season .I would like to see Michael get more than 15 50 point games in a season.

Also, Wilt was in a different league. Many, many of the people Wilt played are now Hall of Famers. Can you say that about many of the guys MJ played with?

In response to your "most shoe sales and commercials"- so what? He is a marketing device because people know about him, as he was a sports icon - in the 90's.

About "full cut above them":
Jordan was an athelete, but nothing spectacular. He could run jump and twirl a lot. Think about a man of Chamberlain's size (Shaquille Oneal sized) and the rolling hooks, "dippers", dunks and the grace he had. MJ couldn't accomplish that.

In response to Alpha Wolf's answer:
Blocks and steals were not recorded during Russell's day, so how do you know those stats? And, Russell only averaged, in his career, five assissts twice. Also, he could never get to the scoring heights Wilt did.

In his prime yes. This deserves much deliberation because Wilt Chamberlain also deserves much credit and honor to be mentioned as the best too. Yes, he did score the 100 when the defenses thrown at him were meager. The times when Jordan did his stuff were a far lot different. Jordan, I agree, could be 1 or 2 with Wilt. LeBron is good in his own ways and comparing him to Wade is unfair. For me, LeBron is more well-rounded and complete but Wade knows how to finish out games. They will be another fun duo to watch and compare later on. I still believe Air Jordan was a cut above the rest.

You're possibly in the same boat as the vast majority of sports gamblers up and down the country who're losing far more than they actually win. It's likely you have the sporadic win that keeps you returning for more, but the majority of the time your choices lose. And that prices you ever more income! If you want to put the end at this dilemma you then must search here https://tr.im/qwXTx .
With Zcodes you will get the machine suggestions so that you may gain the bets and more.
Zcodes System also includes a very productive neighborhood that also weighs in and allows there two dollars about each game. Probably there's a key harm Zcodes doesn't know about. No concerns, the forum members allow you to know before you set your expense down.

Man it just shows that you don't know a whole lot about Basketball!...all you listed was a bunch of stats?...if your going off of stats..then Bill Russell is by far the Greatest ever!..in his prime Bill Russell averaged
20pts..20rbs..10blk...5a...5s!...he won 2NCAA championship's.a.Gold Medal!..and 11 NBA championship's..
He won with and WITHOUT!..Bob Cousy!..5time league MVP..he would have won more!..but the people who voted did'nt wantt to vote for him because he was Black!..(he should have won at least 4 more times!)..but he did this when it was the toughest!..that's what really makes him great!..he would laugh at the defense in the 90's!...Bill Russell was 6'9..
if it's so easy to dominate when your tall..how come Yao Ming aint winning championship's?..he's 6" taller then Shaq!..

MJ never had a winning season without Pippen there to save him......so to answer your ?...Bill Russell is the greatest..period....and as a pure Basketball Player!..
well Phil Jackson has said Kobe is a better allaround Player!
then MJ
to easy!

Russell: 5MVP's and 11 championships
Jordan: 5MVP's and 6 championships

Jordan's total accomplishments are only 2/3rd's of Russell. Russell is BETTER than Jordan.

Jordan may have more commercials than other athlete in his time but Russell could easily counter that with him being a social pioneer; he is the first African American coach in a major league and is one of the most vocal critic of race relations during his time. The guy was nicknamed Felton X.

Micheal Jordan was the greatest ever. He completely dominated the game of basketball. He took control of the game in a split seccond. He was also a great leader on the court. He was practically a second coach but on the court. He will never be topped.

It all depends on who you ask. I say it can only be Jordan or Russell. Jordan had Pippin in the free agency era, and Russell had Cousy (also 1 of 50 greatest players of all time). I say Jordan edges him because of the competion and the era. # of championships should not detemain greatness, if it did, then John Salley (4) would be considered better than Malone, Stockton, and Barkley (0).

No. He got away with more crap than any player in history. Plus he actually quit for a while to avoid being tied to his Dad's gambling murder.
Top Ten all-time easily, sure. But way overrated.
Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Bird, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West all did it without star cards.

I'm not sure if he's the greatest ever, but he is definitely #1 or #2. Wilt Chamberlain was a great player, but he just dominated everyone in his time. I don't know how he would've done if he played now.
