They give money and food and time and labor and counseling and visit people in the hospitals and prisons and love each other and sing happy songs and give vaccinations and serve and protect and put out fires.....UGH!!!

okay it's hard to be sarcastic with a keyboard but I will now formally inform answerers that it is a sarcastic question aimed at increasing awareness of good stuff that doesn't quite make it to the news even though it happens all the time.

and then look at all the people who hoard money and food adversely affect the people enough for them to need counselling, the people who put people in hospitals, the ones who are in prison, those who are racist, sexist, biggotted, sing songs about killing people and trashing diversity, fight against each other in war, and start fires in the first place. i guarruntee that there are more evil people in the world than there are good. then there are those who are just uncaring such as yourself. it might be easy to ask a question where you are at, but put yourself in the place of somebody with nothing and see if you still wish there were less good people.

you're right about your sarcasm and the media.
When you read the yahoo news about the Virginia Tech massacre (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070417/ap_on_re_us/virginia_tech_shooting) you read about all the bad stuff first (which is also important)
but I find that the last 2 sentences of this news to be also very important.
"Liviu Librescu, an Israeli engineering and math lecturer, was killed after he was said to have protected his students' lives by blocking the doorway of his classroom from the gunman. And one student, an Eagle Scout, probably saved his own life by using an electrical cord as a tourniquet around his bleeding thigh, a doctor reported (Apuzzo)."
