I am a university of Chicago Student. A group of us are developing a self-help tool (used by a website) to treat anxiety disorder. Our goal is to provide a cheap and medication free alternative (one of our founders has AD). Please help by taking this 5 minute survey (5 minutes tops I swear!) I'd really appreciate it! This product will eventually help this whole community.

Alright, alright, I'll be your guinea pig if you insist.

...oh, and see, the problem with this system is that I wouldn't pay a dime for it. How can something that you do on a computer and never have to even leave home for help someone with anxiety? For one it's the exact opposite of what someone with social anxiety needs. I assume this is geared toward people suffering from several anxiety conditions, but I don't know many of people who suffer from anxiety of any kind when they are sitting at home on the computer. This system is counter-productive... it just ends up being a crutch for people even if you do give good suggestions for them to follow. If you follow through with this you are just ripping people off.

I don't want to take the survey but as one who has the same problem I can tell you that I find relief by sitting in a comfortable position, try to relax my muscles and do deep breathing exercises. It really helps a lot.

Good Grief! Took one look at that complicated system--and even on medication, wouldn't tackle it. I went through most of my life with a gut-ache of anxiety that would almost double me over. Years of therapy and finally got onto Celexa which has given me great relief!! I d/k, but think that very early rigid child rearing can create a kind of "automatic response" to life. Good Luck with your study!
