Why do you do that? If you don't want to give an answer all 5 stars then why select it as best? I'm not bitter or anything I'm just wondering why people select a best answer and then give it like 1 star.....that doesn't make sense to me.....

I guess they have a rating system, so people use it. Maybe it didn't help them as much as they wanted, but it was the pick of the litter. I never give less than 5 stars... people took the time to answer and they deserve the max. I think it is rude not to, personally. I get ticked when I get 2 stars or so... I feel like, why did I even bother. I'm with you on this one. Solution: have yahoo stop rating best answers. It's stupid.

By giving the BEST ANSWER fewer than the 5 stars possible, you force the person to try and figure out what exactly he/she did that wasn't quite up to snuff. Then they either develop a substance abuse problem, an eating disorder, or they learn to give more concise, direct, and specific answers.
It's a carrot-and-stick kind of a behavioral modification thing, really.

because of the fact it won't impression how many factors they receive, I merely make the answerers satisfied by using giving 5 stars. If I supply any fewer stars, it would desire to be because of the fact i'm in a bad temper. e

The reason for that is that answer was better then everyone elses answer for that one question. If the answer I choose is great, wordy with a lot of deep thought then I'll give it a 5. If it was short rather to the point, I might grade it lower.

Maybe its only the best of the worst. I mean if all answers actually suck, one best answer still has to be chosen...so you pick the one that's least offencive, or as close to the answer you were looking for even if it isn't exactly what you wanted. So, you don't give it all five stars.
I would have thought that would be fairly obvious really.

The main reason is because some people are nitpicky. The real reason is that most people don't make sense.
