My almost 3 year old daughter took the ExperRating IQ test and scored a 90%, which is an IQ over 130. The test consisted of 20 questions, mostly pictures. She had 40 minutes to take it. It took her less than or about 10 minutes. I have been trying to find out if it's lagitimate and where I should take her when she's a little older to have an IQ test done by a psychologist?

I'm not sure. I could be much more helpful if I could see a sample of the questions.

Generally I would say a test composed of only a few multiple choice questions is not nearly comprehensive enough to be legitamate. Also, a 10 minute test is not nearly detailed enough to make any sort of accurate prediction of IQ. You paid what...less than 20 dollars for this test? The administration of a professional test will cost hundrends. It is very comprehensive.

Also, in my opinion, no, she does not need to see a psychologist. Certainly not yet. IQ testing at a very young age is not accurate at all. You cannot acquire a reliable and steady measure of a child's IQ until an age of at least 8 or 9. I would suggest letting the matter go. If your daughter continues to show gifted abilities as she ages and begins school, easily grasping the material, then I would suggest having her tested by a professional. Until then it is rather unnecessary and a costly waste of your time, especially when the results will not be a good predictor of her intelligence as she ages.

It depends what you mean by accurate. If you mean does it accurately assess how intelligent someone is, I would say no. Intelligence has many definitions nowadays. The main thing an IQ test is able to predict is how well you will do on another IQ test. All the IQ test is doing is seeing whether you are 'intelligent' in the same manner as those people who created the test.

Why not just wait until shes in school and has to take the Wexschler(?) IQ test. This might be a more accurate assessment of her actual intelligence level.
