DEMOCRATS and REPUBLICANS? Why are there only two types?

'You republicans r dumb and all u do is follow orders without thinking!'

Any intelligent person like myself would know that no smart person is one or the other. There are certain things im conservative about and certain things im liberal about. Like prostitution?liberal! Taxes? Conservative! Can't u guys see that you fall into the mentality of gangs when u r saying im a proud demo/repub and *** the other party. My god looooook at the the dam elections....u see only 2 colors...crepts and bloods. Nobody thinks for themselves. Of all the people in the country...I am furious at the fact that there's only 2 main parties that win every year....this is not democracy. The whole 2 party system is all a charade. People r forgetting the real issue at hand. Issues r never just black and white.

I don't think the 2 party system is a charade, but I think it is faulty to think all Dems think alike & all Reps think alike.

The Democratic party:
... is for starting programs to solve problems like poverty.
... believes it is fair to tax the rich much more to pay for these programs.
... thinks the governement should stay out of our private lives.

The Republican party:
... thinks that charities are better suited helping the empoverished.
... thinks letting people keep more of their money improves the economy.
... has a tendency to try to legistlate morality.

But on an individual basis, it is not always like that.

Many democrats are in favor of banning trans fats. What could be more personal than what I choose to eat?
Many republicans are now going for big programs that used to be only supported by dems.

I'm more of a libertarian, myself. I want the government out of my pocketbook AND out of my bedroom (or dinner table).
