There have been several accounts of mentally disturbed people getting behind the wheel of a car and running down innocent victims. Should we blame the car salesman? If not, then why is media blaming the gun salesman for a mentally disturbed person using a gun as a weapon at VT?

Kind of like they were blaming the school for not telling them the guy was going to go across campus and start shooting again?

You have an excellent point. The person who did the shooting is at fault. In both cases.

no

only because, some buy their cars from private citizens . . . I'd blame the person with the their fingers wrapped around the wheel . .

cars and guns are like apples and oranges.

if that's the stand: then you should blame the alcohol industry and charge them for manslaughter against thousands of ppl who get behind the wheel and drive drunk or in some areas, like to shoot off their guns while kicking back a few tall boys

Well actually my first question would be can you buy a car without a valid liscence? If not, then if the mentally disturbed got a liscence, then we should blame the person who gave them the liscence.

But since your scenario is just an analogy, I guess that doesn't really matter. It sucks that people feel the need to point fingers.

Its so easy to blame someone else for the shortcomings of others. The media are whores looking for a story to justify their own sick lives Ignore them

i get your point. good one. but the car is a vehicle of transportation. a gun is a weapon to kill. i don't think guns should be that easy to get.
