First try hotwire or priceline and save a bundle on hotels!

Check www.biddingfortravel.com to learn how to use these sites to maximum potential.

Try to stay near fisherman's wharf if you want to be where it stays lively.....

Little Star pizza is awesome....
Try a Tapas place or little plate place -- I like Medjool Lounge in the mission for bar/eating.

Go to the Presido to hang out for free. You can walk, bicycle etc... great views of the bay and the Golde Gate Bridge especially from Fort Point.

Go to Ferry Building Saturday morning. Nice Farmers market with lots of great snacks to get while you stroll around.

Chloe's or Ella's for breakfast. Cliff House Bistro if you want Ocean view with breakfast. Prices moderate.
Picaro is cheap tasty tapas, or Thirsty Bear is more expensive-- brew club/tapas place.

Nightclubs.. try Fillmore/Chestnut/Union St. area.

Hi,
I think you might get a deal on Orbitz or Hotels.com I think staying downtown is a good idea, however, there is a Best Western and a few major motels at the Wharf.
Depending on your type of bar hopping and dining. A place I like and it's fun is the Tonga Room at the Fairmont. The food is good the dance floor is romantic and the drinks well a little over priced. You can go there just for drinks and check it out.
For some fun try the San Francisco Brewing Co. Columbus near Broadway. For the best Italian you will find it in many locations in North Beach and Chinatown are very close.
You can have the best and worst seafood at the Wharf so really check it out. Bubba Gumps is all frozen all the time.
For the rest of the Night Club action you'll have to check it out with your hotel.

My favorite hotel in San Fran gets you in the action and it's got lots of culture and charm, too.

It is the Miyako at 1620 Post Street in Japantown. It is a reasonably priced hotel, but it has Japanese baths and lots of great amenities.

7 hours is plenty of time. Just take the BART from the airport to downtown (get off at Powell street) and see the city.
