Multiply the fraction by 1 over the number you are trying to divide by...

If you are dividing a whole number into the fraction, you must first change the fraction to a decimal by dividing the denominator "into" the numerator. Then, do the division as you normally would. If you are dividing two fractions, you multiply the denominator of the first fraction by the numerator of the second. This product will go on the numerator line of your answer. Then the numerator of the first fraction is multiplied by the denominator of the second. The product goes in the denominator line of your answer. You now have the fraction that is your answer.

If you wish to divide a fraction - you multiply its denominator.

so for instance if you have 2/3 divided by 5, this is the same as 2 / (3x5)

= 2/15

If you wish to divide BY a fraction, you turn the fraction upside down (ie invert - this is the same as finding the reciprocal) and multiply by the fraction.

If you have 2/3 divided by 5/7 you would need to turn the 5/7 upside down to get 7/5 and then multiply the numerators and the denominators.

(2/3) ÷ (5/7)

= (2/3) x (7/5)
= 14/15

Note that the first part is the same process

(2/3) ÷ (5/1)
= (2/3) x (1/5)
= 2/15

you mulitiply by the reciprical. in other words, you take the last fraction and flip it so the numerator is on the bottom and the denominator is on the top.
then you change the division sign for a multiplication sign and then just multiply the two fractions together (you don't need common denominators to multiply fractions) i hope this helps, its pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Good luck.

ex: 6/(3/4)
Take the bottom number (4) and multiply it by the top number (6) then divide that by 3

6/(3/4) = 8

Basically invert the fraction (3/4 => 4/3) and multiply

you divide a fraction by multiplying it by the reciprocal of whatever you're dividing it by.
ex.
(2\3)/5
the reciprocal of 5 is (1/5)
so you multiply
(2/3)(1/5)=(2/15)

divide 2/3 by 3/4
invert the 3/4 to 4/3, and multiply 2/3x4/3
=8/9 mutiply top times top and bottom times bottom, simplify if possible

Invert (turn upside down) and multiply

multiply by the reciprocal. for example,

if you had 1/2 and wanted to divide it by 3, you take the reciprocal of 3 which is 1/3 and multiply by 1/2. so

1/2 x 1/3 = 1/6

the reciprocal x is 1/x
