All blueberries need acidic soil. From there, a lot depends on your geographical location and the cultivar of blueberries you are growing in your location. For specific information relevant to your area, do a Yahoo search for "growing blueberries" (include the quotation marks) and explore some of the 4,700 results.

first off blueberries are a bush they may get tall and look like small trees but there still a bush plant also make sure you use a sandy acidic soil but not to sandy and a good compost is a perfect alternative to chemical fertilizers that contain steroids you'll get better looking and better tasting berries if you use organic materials to fertilize.

Did you have a lot of rain last year? Too, much rain can lower the sweetness. They may need fertilizer also. You have trees? i have only seen bushes , mine are quite big and tall , but they are still bushes.
