how many oscars can live healthy in a 75 gallon tank?

i recently bought one with four oscars ranging from 6 to 9 inches. The people i bought them from said they have had no problems with them. But think they need a bigger tank?

4 might be ok in a 75 and honestly it would depend a bit on their personalities. Many people have reported better luck keeping large cichlids like Oscars in odd numbered groups so as they grow you might want to remove the smallest or most shy fish.

Remember that water quality would also always be an issue with either 3 or 4 in the tank.

I once had a 75 gallon tank with four Oscars. As they got bigger they became territorial and started to fight. I sold them back to the pet store.

You need a bigger tank.

I had 2 in a 90gal tank and had to get rid of them because the tank QUICKLY became too small.
The Oscars grew to over a foot.

depending on how big the oscar is right now....the bigger they grow the more one by one will die off. they do get huge and it will need to be the only fish in the tank...go to Petsmart they will tell you more about them...

you can get by with less they just won't grow as big

I'd say that's about half of what you need. Are they fighting yet? They will eventually.
