I would ask which friend did it as a joke, get him over (or on the phone) to confront him with out giving hubby enough time to warn him of your call. If your hubby was lying he will either say "wait, let's not call" so you can say "how else can you prove your innocence?" or he'll come out with the truth.

If it was true, inform the friend that there are other options of joking around with a husband and wife in humorous ways besides instigating what could be the beginning of a falling out of a relationship. If the friend does it to cover up for your hubby, he will sure feel embarrassed and will not want to be in the path of your wrath again.

If it is not true, confront the husband. If he denies, let it pass but be on the lookout. This small thing could be something bigger but it is too menial to have the "heart to heart" about trust, love and etc. etc. with him yet.

Stay cool and call and talk to the other person and ask them what's going on. Be careful it can be tricky, if u real love him. But, u can also feel better to know the truth. Theses kind of thoughts are not healthy for u to have of your partner.

Ask the friend. And make sure it was not in your spouse's handwriting.

I would investigate the situation. It sounds suspicious.
