how will this country change when people like "wolf" think the war in Iraq is being fought for our freedom???? amazing!!!
to answer your question, our National Debt has doubled since Bush came into office and we as a nation are going into debt at a rate of 2 billion dollars a day.
some people are so overcome with the propaganda that it doesn't matter at all to them.

Which way do you want to determine the "cost"?
Money? At least $600 billion. But that won't include the longterm cost of health care (assuming the Republicans agree to live up to their obligations to the veterans), or the long term costs for the military presencce we will almost assuredly maintain in the Middle East.
Opportunity? The array of things the money could have been spent on instead is mind-boggling--schools, rebuilding infrastructure, developing alernative energy, health care, good will with foreign nations.
Lives? My guess would be at least 4000 American lives by the time he leaves office. The number of Iraqi lives is hard to predict, but will be at least in the hundreds of thousands.
Respect? It will take a long time to rebuild tthe respect with which we were once viewed in the world...if we ever can.
Pick your metric! Any way you calculate, though, the cost will be incredibly high...

He'll bankrupt the country, because he IS that stupid.
By the way, we had freedom when Clinton was in office, and it didn't cost us to destabilize the Middle East. If freedom means higher gas prices and more foreclosures, America should not be in Iraq.
Period.
