I have been told that my father's death caused my bisexuality. A friend of mine was told her having cancer in childhood might have made her bi. (She's died since--RIP.) Other friends have heard that their parents' divorces cause it. I wouldn't be surprised if the death of a family pet was "blamed."

There are also many interesting theories spread by right-wingers, including eating too much soy.

What's the weirdest one you've heard? (Links are good.)

I read on here a kind of strange theory once, but I actually think it is a neat way to look at homosexuality. I don't think the theory really falls under the "cause" of homosexuality, but more of a reason for it. A person wrote on here in an answer that they felt the reason for homosexuality may be to help orphans have a more options for adoption. I thought that was kind of neat. I always hear it's around 10% of the population that is homosexual, and if you think of the percentage of those people who will adopt in order to have children it's a pretty staggering number. I think that makes a lot of sense as a possible reason for it. Part of some great design I guess. Ok, that's all.

I agree with the earlier answer of the moon landing. My friends all think I am nuts for not believing we did it. My question is: The technology was FAR inferior in 1969 than it is today. (Think of what computers were at that time.) Yet, NASA says we are still 10 years away from sending another manned spacecraft to the moon. Huh ?

well there has been the sexual part of the brian is two big or small, the inner working of the ears, genes, brian activity. it is a nuture issue. every time the have "found" the physcal cause for homosexuality, they have to retract there research for being flawed. the last was it is the 3 to 4 fourth child that the sperm and egg has a different reaction to cause homosexuakity.

The wierdest one I heard was that gayness could be "caught" off other people - usually a child looking up to a gay teacher or gay role model. Not sure who came up with this, but I remember reading it in an old text book. Like with everything else, this has been long disproven.

Single Parents...I guess the southern baptists convention thinks that not having a mommy and a daddy will make you gay. Bunch of delusional idiots. Of course there is "choice" a person choosing to be gay. Boys playing with dolls and girls playing with cars. Having gay parents or gay family members. Then theres the one if a gay person touches you or are friends with that will turn ya again. There are weird people with weird ideas. Why are Christians so obsessed with gays is the better question.

I'm not kidding when I say this, but I have seriously heard you can become gay if you drink water from San Francisco. Odd considering Don Perrier is bottled near San Francisco. *shrugs*

My aunt told my mother that I was gay because I was addicted to sex.

Funny, I never seem to get any. What's up with that?

Anyway, my aunt only said that because her son is addicted to crack and her misery wanted some company I think.

1. Drug use causes homosexuality. (A common anti-marijuana argument)

2. Gayness can be spread as a germ.

3. Gayness is a symptom of demon possession.

4. Not properly discipling the kids (ie., gayness was not beaten out of them)

5. Not having a father in the home.

Continuing the sillyness of the poster above me, let me say this. It is a wonder with all the disclaimers and lawsuits these days, there isn't one on condoms: "The surgeon general has determined that men who have sex with men run a high risk of becoming homosexuals."

Haha, I would have to say that the funniest I have heard was either a) alien abduction and they messed with our brains, or similarly b) we ARE aliens.
