define great.
but morally i think the US, as a whole, is self-centered. we have shopping malls, movie theaters, advertisements, magazines, and so much more that is sucking our money and generosity. some people care more for celebrity news than what's happening in iraq, it all goes to show how ignorant we have become.

Start with closing the borders. I do not mean not allowing in legal immigrants.
Ditto: What chappye7 (next post) said. True.
Bring back morals and the nuclear family.
Stop defining ourselves as "--"-Americans; just be Americans regardless of your colour, religion or ethnicity.
Speak English. Multi-lingual people are great but one of the languages should be English beyond "where's the bathroom?"
History should needs to be taught correctly, not the PC "history as we would like it" versions.
Realize that EVERYTIME something goes wrong in life, you can't blame the government. Yes, they can mess up but so can you and you can learn to live it.
Realize sometimes the government has not done it's job so instead of whining about it you need to become part of the process and do what you can.
Realize war happens and the United States cannot take the isolationist view of leaving everytime something is going wrong. It seems like everyone wants us to have our own Six Day War.
Support our President, no matter who he or she is. Don't you know how STUPID our bickering looks to other nations? You may think other nations such as Britain thought Clinton was great because of his policies. As family of and friends of Brits, I can report they liked him as a person, yes. As a President he was a buffoon and made them look better. So they liked him. Hey, I am just repeated comments to me from a Parliament district representative.

Mr. Taco: You think that just because there is more money now we have it better. Not necessarily, it has only bred greed.

Ha ha ha! Excuse me while I laugh. It always makes me smile when people think that things used to be better in the past. When was the United States so much greater than it is now? I have studied history for 15 years, and I'll tell ya, the United States has never been any better off than it is right now. The only exception is, perhaps, between 1941 and 1945. I doubt that the destruction of multiple countries and the death of millions is worth bringing back our glory from that period. Our current government leaves something to be desired, but that is just a part of the cycle of life. Things really were not that much different in the past.

To find our way back to our previous greatness read the Bill Bradley's new book "The New American Story". He says we are "A Can-do Nation"; the pessimistic stories we are told about America are flat lies. We are the children of the people that won WWII and, in many ways, even better. We need to return to the values we had then, except for those that we have improved, which may be improved even more by the next generation.

Thats a good one. First off we need to stop fighting each other. Political correctness has just about thrown this country completely off course. We need to all vote evry single American, its the only way we can get our country back from the few. But if we don't fix our problems soon, well you have heard of the Roman Empire right.

-Manditory voting for all US Citizens..those that dont get fined big time
-Verify the identity of all US citizens...All birth/death records should be on a FEDERAL data base coordinated with the Social Security and IRS.
- Demand a Bill that limits both Senators/Reps to a lifetime maximum of two terms in Congress ..life time /career politicians forget that they are to serve the interests of "THE NATION". Two term elected officials will not be obsessed with retaining their perk filled jobs, wasting time seeking "support",or promising "support/votes" for return "favors"/support, and get OUR elected Officials refocused on work, not devisive, self serving power games .
Demand that Congress eliminate THEIR extra special (expensive) healthcare plan/pension plan etc and use the same benefit plans provided to standard Government workers...They are no different than other "government workers".
-Demand a Standard WORK schedule for Congress.
Few Us Citizens can afford to work 1/3 of a year. Require relocation of all members of congress to reside in Washington DC. for their term. Fund i trip per quarter back to their state ;Modern technology (Im email,phone/video conferences etc) allows "contact" with their state government officials and state residents.

-Require the Media/Print press to LIST/identify ALL SOURCES when reporting and event/story. All Opinion, commentary, speculation, unnamed sourced info must be separated from what is currently viewed as "the news". OPinion/entertainment "shows" must be differentiated (separate channel/heading/annner that states that information presented is generated by opinion , from organizations seeking to promote or provide what they believe is relevent /information etc)..Despite media/print press belief, The public Can take the simple FACTS of an event and draw their own conclusions.
Note: By Law, "freedom of the press protections" was designed to insure that the public received FACTUAL info.
stories such as ...unnamed high official states that korns were flushed down toilets..... resulted in riotsthat produced injuries & the DEATH of many. I dont believe the founding fathers intended to immunize the press from creating "stories" to produce a false rage/belief or whatever against people, organizations, political policies etc...

the list could go on BUT simply put we forget

"we the people" was the opening and most important phrase....
corruption/greed, self-serving sheisters have always existed in every society..it doesnt matter if they are agroup of politicians, media/print press, or your neighbor/boss ..those that are not interested or chose to destroy thie US and what it stands for need to be held to account...not brushed off by phrases such as "its just politics/everyone has a right to an opinion...
No Nation survives when its enganged in internal arguments or so called "debates"" generated for distraction or attention to a cause/person...
Ony WE the PEOPLE can demand a clean house and a return to when people understood that opportunity to succeed was no guarantee, Laws on the books are enforced and adequately funded, Congress serves to protect/preserve the nation and PROduce, void or amend legislation...etc

Put all of the damn liberals and democrats in a space ship, send it to the pluto, and blow it up on its way. Do you think our founding fathers would really agree with the things they believe? I think not. Its their fault our country is so screwed.

Hate to tell you this- but the "good old days" were an illusion. We just didn't KNOW how bad we had it. Today we know MORE about what's going on around us- & it shakes us up alittle. That's to be expected. The fact IS- as a people, we've NEVER had it so good. :)
