Not disowned, but my father told me straight (no pun) that he wasn't happy at all with it but when he had something further to say he would. That was 12 years ago when I was 19. Since then I think he's mellowed a bit in old age, but we don't really speak about it.

My mother on the other hand is absolutely fine with it and if I'm dating someone then there's no problem with staying over in her house and her husband is great too (parents divorced).

I was expecting my fathers family to reject me but quite the opposite, my mums family are ok to. My dad didn't want me to tell my gran but I recently found out a few weeks ago he just has just told her and she didn't care. Apparently she said he was born that way and doesn't change my feelings at all. Which I'm glad of as I'm quite close to her and I did have doubts, the usual case of the older generation being very set in their ways etc etc.

The only thing my father has done that really embarrased me was more than a few years ago when I picked him up from a works do. I went in and was waiting for him and he was talking to his mates. All of a sudden they all looked at me and one of them said "well, it's not as if he want's to s**g you is it". It wasn't long after I had come out and was still working things out in my head. I never mentioned it but after that my attitute towards my father changed. We don't have a great relationship anyway and I doubt we ever will as he'll never get over it.

My mother didnt have a great time with it but she was accepting. My father didnt give a sh*t at all. I was surprised.

My mom even 'admitted' that she was Bisexual. She kinda just blurted it out and was like 'Oh Crap' afterward.

I havent told my aunts and uncles and grandma. I want my grandma to accept me but i dont give a hell what my aunts or uncles think. They're a bunch of bigots and assholes anyway.

I hope my grandma is fine with it. She seems fine with other gay people. My sister and brother and 3 cosins(sp) know and they are fine with it. Im gonna wait a few years to tell my other cousins(sp?) cause my aunt puts crazy ideas in their heads.... *&grrrrr*

anyway I am overall lucky so far.

I was disowned at age 16 and moved out on my own
but now everything is perfect with those family members and they accept my sexuality and are not like: "oh, he wants to be a woman" anymore.

I prefer "rejected" over "disowned" but I suppose since they mean basically the same thing then... yes. I have been.

Personally, I was blessed my family completley accepted and loved me, however one of my very good friends, his father broke his jaw and when he was realesed from hospital his parents forcd hin to see a counceler to have him "fixed", it was dismal how he was treated, fortunatley I draged him from that environment and set him up so hes ok now.

For about two years.
Then they saw that I was still the same person they had always known, coincidentally the "white sheep" of the family, and things returned pretty much to normal.

At present they ask about my husbear, so things are fine.

No, but I took some serious beatings from mine for being a tranny teenager. Similar, but not the same.
