My mum used to say 'I'll put a flukes gob on you!' I never knew what it meant until iI found out years later that a fluke is a flat fish. It's a good job I did not know this at the time - because I probably would have laughed out loud when she said it. In those days you did not laugh at your mother if you knew what was good for you!!

Another one "We have all been blessed with two ears and one mouth, a constant reminder that we should listen twice as much as we talk." A third one particularly good for our age: "In this world there is enough for everybody's needs, but not enough for everybody's greed." 'Ghandi'

"From day one I talked about getting out But not forgetting about How my worst fears are letting out He said why put a new address On the same old loneliness When breathing just passes the time Until we all just get old and die Now talking's just a waste of breath And living's just a waste of death
And why put a new address On the same old loneliness
And this is you and me And me and you Until we've got nothing left."
