It seems to have a theme of isolation. Every action is one the person observes, never interacting. Feels almost invisible (Look right through me). Tone of song is sad, depressed.

Use of repetition (Mad World, Mad world.......No one knew me, no one knew me......No tomorrow, no tomorrow, etc )

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad World
Enlarging your world
Mad World.

I love "Mad World"
It's from Donnie Darko.

The deeper meaning of the song is that many people may seem perfectly fine to others in terms of how the feel, but in reality, they are silently going crazy with misery in their lives.

Besides being from the soundtrack, it's alternattive. The piano in the background adds to the emotion in the song. The song is sung in a kind of sad voice to emphasize the "mad world" that everybody silently lives in.
The song is filled with metaphors and ambiguoity.
I don't know the scheme of the song though.

I hope this was helpful!

Gary Jules. I like the Tears for Fears version too, but only Jules moves me.
