Yeah, I've been called that, but I never have cared what stupid people call me or think of me.

As for "what will your kids be", I just said: "Better than you."

No, fortunately I've never had anyone say anything like that. And your kids will be kids, of course!

But race issues are a big deal to me. I used to be extremely sensitive to any sort of comment that could be construed as racist. Really, I still am - but I've learned that people will have their opinions and telling them that they are wrong is not the way to change them. There is probably a reason they feel the way they do - upbringing or experiences - and I respect that, but I also try to illustrate that their are numerous examples to support my way of thinking as well.

Good luck with the relationship! And people will get over it...

Not sure what race you are but there are enough stupid people in every race so if you are the most discraceful thing to your race, there is definitely quite a bit of progress being made!
Sure lots of ignorant people have comments.
Try not to let it worry, you. If someone asks you 'what your kids are going to be' try to reply with something to the effect of, 'hopefully not an azzhole like you'.
It is always amazing to me how people offer unsocilited comments about YOUR life.
My suggestion is that you try to develop a tuff skin. Most of the people that say that are simply ignorant, jealous and scared (or maybe all three).

i have been in a relationship with a black woman for several years now, and have heard it all

people ask me if I have forgotten what I really am (a white man). just because i choose to be with a black woman and because I don't live in world that denies prejudice still exists to this day

older people especially think that mixed children for some odd reason will grow up confused and isolated from the uni racial children around them
I realize that my children, as most mixed people I know, will probably more strongly embrace their black roots, and this doesn't bother me all.

if these things are happening to you keep your head up it doesn't matter what other people think. as long as you are happy don't let others ruin a good thing for you. I personally feel like I made the right decision and that's all that matters to me

I'm married to a Saudi Arabian. My family hates Muslims and Arabs in general. So they aren't happy about it. I'm also Muslim. No I've never been called a disgrace however I have been called an embarrassment to the USA for being Muslim one time in the grocery store. Not to mention I've been called a terrorist.

I'm half black and half white and my husband is Chamorro (from Guam) and we have two daughters. I found that when I was younger, people always kind of wanted to me to choose a side. Now I wonder what it is going to be like during their formative years. People always ask "Well what are they considered?" as if they are a completely different species!! We are from Oklahoma and people there thought that we were a "Weird" couple since we are of different nationalities. What a world we live in!!

I've dated black women and I'm currently sort-of seeing an Asian woman (I'm white). I've had no direct/blatant negative experiences, but both an employer and a childhood friend critiqued one of the black women I dated (whether based on her as an individual [they both knew her] or race, I'm not a telepath) and tried to tell me I could do "better."

I dated an interracial girl before and I didn't tell my parents, when I brought her home they were surprised to say the least. They got over it, not many people will though. It's a shame that even though we are supposed to be an equal country, that you still have racism and bigotry.
