I totally agree with you. I also gained over 40 lbs, I would bleed at random times, I had horrible skin, and I was as mean and nasty as a human can get. I hated myself while I was on it. I just consider myself lucky that I was able to conceive without any problems after being on it. I heard it can seriously mess up your future fertility. I heard it lowers your bone density, too.

was on the depo for just under a year when i came off it. I had no period while i was on the depo. I didn't have a period for 8 months after coming off it but i did have brown discharge constantly and my doctor told me i was virtually infertile during that time because the effects of the depo hadn't wore off. Because i had no periods i was bloated and suffered stomach cramps. I suffered the whole time with pregnancy symptoms and this was a very distressing thing!! It made me extremely mood swingy. I gained almost three stone in weight on it and i know that i wasn't over eating because i was eating the same i did before as i have always been a healthy eater. My breast size went fromk being an E cup to a G cup. I also lost my sexual appetite almost completely.I did eventually get my sex drive back about 7 months after coming off it. Then my periods returned but for four months i had two periods a month and they were not during certain times of the month, they seemed to start whenever it suited.. Then i fell pregnant in december but lost the baby on new years day 2007 at almost 9 weeks... I still don't know whether it was because of the depo. My periods are again two a month but seem to have put themselves into dates. Period one starts on the first of every month and lasts for four days and period two starts on the 15th of every month and lasts for five days. It is very restricting, i have to take sanitary products everywhere with me! It's been over a year since i came off it and nothing has gone back to normal. I'm finding it difficult to shed the weight and i hate the G cup breasts i still have, i'm now considering surgery. I was never told by my gp that any of these problems would occur, if i'd have know i wouldn't have gone on it! I dop not reccomend it to anyone!!

I was on Depo for about 6 years. I had barely any weight gain (Maybe about 10lbs in the spread of those years) and no spotting. I littereally had no issues but I also took my calcium pills most of those years. Then I decided to get off of it. It took me about 6 months to have a period again then I decided to go on a pill... I gained about 20 pounds 3 months before my wedding!!! When I quit those pills my flow was messed up and I had HORRIBLE cramps and I got very crabby right before. Now I am on a way low dose pill and love it! I think it ALL depends on body types and what works for each person.

I've heard the horror stories with depo too.

I actually went to my doctor and got the perscription... well my doctor failed to tell me about the side effects.. which clearly stated "may cause hair loss" and "do not take with a kidney problem"... I already have a problem with hair loss and I have a kidney disorder. As soon as I read all the side effects I threw the bottle in the garbage. I was pretty upset that someone who knows my medical history and is supposed to advise me of cetain things would willing write me a perscription of that junk!

A friend of mine was on it and she still regrets it to this day. I would never suggest depo to anyone! I've been on the pill for 4 years now and not one side effect yet.

I'm sorry you had to go through all that.

i've got accepted nursing mothers who went on Depo and did have grant themes. i've got additionally accepted mothers who gained a ton of weight on Depo and swore that they had never use it back. and that i understand yet another lady who have been given pregnant on Depo two times, the 2nd time with twins. So i'm no longer a extensive fan of Depo myself. good success with in spite of you compromise on!

I agree with you totally.

I gained weight, had horrible mood swings, loss of libido, spotted at weird times.

I would never ever ever ever recommend the shot to anyone.

I am surprised that they are still allowing this drug on the market.

I was on it for four years.

I am on Kariva (pill) now and a lot happier and NO side affects!

I haven't had any of those problems, BUT... I get it in the butt, and the butt/upper hip part on the lower back is SORE!!! For the next two or three months! Its like they hit a nerve every time and kept jamming it while administering, so I quit taking it.

I was told by my doctor that the shot would not prevent me from becoming pregnant, it would just cause me to have a miscarriage before I knew I was pregnant hence the heavy random periods.
