There is really ONLY ONE intel cpu that is the fastest cpu, the EX6800. In motherboard performance, most using the same chipset (or similar) really perform about the same. Well the first guy was semi-right, AMD is known for gaming, becasue I cannot count the number of people on here who say that line. However, at the moment, the Intel Core 2 Duos are the fastest out, which means they are faster at EVERYTHING, just like at this time last year the AMD Athlon 64 X2s were the fasters out, which meant they were faster at EVERYTHING.

There are actually several differences between the two, most of them a bit technical to go into here. If you really want technical jargon, let me know. As I said the best processors are the Core 2 Duos, the Core 2 Quads are too expensive and give no real advantage in normal situations. As for motherboards, go with an ASUS, something with a P965 chipset.

EDIT: To computertech, DID HE SAY BEST FOR THE MONEY. No, he said best for performance. Read the question before you tell others that they are wrong. If he had said best for money, I would have said AMD, but he didn't.

The top processors out now are Intels Quad core processors. They are extremely expensive but are supposed to be coming down soon. What I recommend is Intel's Core 2 Duo line of processors. By far the best Bang for buck out there now. I have the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600. Very nice CPU.

AMD and Intel are competitors. Intel is the top dog right now and from what I understand AMD is going down. Intel has AMD beat in every category of CPU technology.
