What would you have done if you were in Night of the Living Dead?

I mean if you were in the original night of the living dead, what would you have done once you got to that abandoned house and met that guy there?

I would have barricaded all of the windows and doors except one for an emergency exit. I would have settled in where I could see my exit at all times. I would then have taken stock of weapons, water, food and transportation in that order and planned an escape route. I would then assess the people around me for their abilites and resources - I would decide if they were a help or hindrance and act accordingly. I would then have listened to/read any available news sources for information on the situation. After that, I would have made sure I could get to the roof of the house and from there would have observed the zombies' behavior for a spell to see if I could determine how to kill them, how intelligent they were, how fast they were etc. Finally, I would have made a large sign on the roof saying that there were living people inside. At that point, I would have assessed my situation according to my resources and abilities and decided whether the best move would be to stay in the house or make an escape attempt. In the early stages of the outbreak, escape would be more effective considering how few zombies there were around at the time and how slow they moved. This would, of course, have only been feasible if weapons were available, and there was a relatively safe destination available to me.

i have to agree with Erin S above who says

"Finally, I would have made a large sign on the roof saying that there were living people inside."

after making it to the morning, i couldn't believe that the hero was then killed by the townspeople in as brutal a fashion as the zombies. it kind of asks the question who are the real monsters here, the dead or the living.

that ending was one of the most chilling i have seen.

I would have run around the place with a couple of cans of gasoline and a torch until I found a car and driven my butt outta there.
