There was nothing the college could have done to prevent this tragedy.

Once administrators knew something was going down they went over the PA system & told the students to stay in their classrooms and shut & lock the doors.

Mental instability is simply a fact of life... If a psycho decides he/she is gonna go on a rampage there's very little you can do to stop it.

There should probably be beefed up support services for troubled students in schools nation wide.

Colleges should have a real plan for disasters. That plan should involve the local police at the beginning of the incident, not after the campus rent-a-cops decide they need help.

Colleges should teach their students that events such as this can and do happen. They should prepare the students for loss and give the students tools to survive that loss. No one is immune from loss - no matter if that loss is a disaster or the death of a family member. .

First of all my heart goes out to all victims of this malicious crime! This isn't about "gun control", its bout the nut cases that are allowed to purchase guns. Obviously this boy was troubled and needed some serious help. Maybe it should be mandatory for all college students, even high school students to have one on one counseling. This could really help keep track of those who do need help.

I believe most schools have emergency communication in place already. There isn't much anyone can do against someone that has his or her mind made up to go and murder people. I hope people don't start pointing fingers now...what happened yesterday was horrible and the only one to blame is the guy who was doing the shooting.
