You're looking at approximately $3,000-4,000 from BMW.
If you're posting this question because you have a transmission failure with a symptom of: "I suddenly lost your reverse gear"... check out the online BMW forums such as www.roadfly.org.
This is a common problem with their so-called "lifetime fill" transmission fluid. I printed out some 17 cases, Fedex-ed them to BMW USA to ask for help (citing that it's a quality problem), they ended up offering to offset 50% of the costs even though my car was out of warranty.
Good luck!

A new trans for my 07 BMW 525I 6 speed manual is $4700 from dealer after taxes and core charge i'm going to try to have the old one rebuilt from the ground but being the flex disc was wore and ignored all the signs and noises i was bout to a burn-out in Autozone parking i spun the drive shaft sooo hard and sooo fast i literally broke the output shaft coming out of the transmission and it bout took the gear selector rods straight through the leather boot heck i even bent the drive shaft bolts im in the process of upgrading the clutch "by choice', resurfacing the flywheel, replacing the drive shaft, the transmission, the drive shaft bolts and the drive shaft flex disc, and i might even see about upgrading the gear selector rods bearings and bushings.

The cost of the transmission, new or rebuilt, plus the labor rate per hour multiplied by the time it takes to do the job, plus sales tax if any and any incidental shop charges.

Alot I would imagine, but only your mechanic can give an accurate estimate. I would guess $3000 and up.
