Shouldn't guns be made to order for people who have followed the proper procedures?

This way, there are no "extra" guns to sell to criminals and only the good citzens have them.

No, it's the lack of enforcement of the gun laws on the books.

Custom making guns to order would only increase the amount of black market gun trafficking. as it would put the cost of a gun out of the reach of a normal wage earner.

edit: Have you ever heard of a zip gun? You can make it out of a pen. If guns get too expensive, the criminals will "custom make" their own, trust me.
Here's a website that shows exactly how to make one:

The question about reforming gun law does not have anything to do with stopping criminally minded people from commiting crimes. Kind of an obvious over-used argument that criminals would just make a gun, or use something else. Of course they would....
But that doesn't mean that reducing the number of weapons that exist won't reduce gun deaths. Like another person answered, most gun owners are not prepared to have a gun battle with a robber in their house, or if they are, statistically they will lose it. These guns statistically end up being shot off accidently by children who find them and allowing everyone to own a gun has not been a clear deterent to crime. You just don't hear of a homeowner killing a home intruder very often. Right now the question is how do we stop or reduce the gun problem in America. I am coninually surprised at gun supporters who want so badly to keep gun laws as they are when that has certainly not alleviated Americas gun violence problem. Let's attack this problem by attempting to make it harder for random disturbed people (like the virginia tech student) to just waltz in and buy one. I think only allowing people to own guns for hunting and having them keep them locked and unloaded at all times is something that has certainly reduced gun violence in Europe. Yes, black market gun trade would increase, but criminals and other dangerous people shouldn't be able to get them through legal channels, and personal liberty should never justify the desire to own a weapon of instant and effortless killing. Personal liberty only goes as far as yourself, and inherently, a gun has the possibility to and often does impede on others personla liberty. That's why the constitution should be amended to remove the ridiculous and antiquated 2nd amendment. Once it was difficult to aquire a gun and criminals where doing it illegaly, that's where policing would have to work to clean eliminate this trade. Of course, I understand that we are a different country than those in Europe, with a much larger violence problem. The reasons for that are varied and debatable( innercity poverty, media and movie obssesion with violence, general desensitivity to violence replaced with a zealous rigidity towards sex) and until some of the underlying social and cultural problems are figured out, this country will remain one obsessed with violence, and without a solution to this prob. Nothing gun supporters have done until now has reduced gun violence. Lets get tough and try to rid our culture's obssession with guns.

Putting the government in control of something is a great way to have it fail. A gun is a tool, it should not be personified (given human traits such as good or evil). If someone wanted a gun bad enough he could make his own. Eliminating or rationing guns will no sooner eliminate criminals and violent crimes than eliminating forks and spoons cause mass starvation. IIRC murder, rorbbery, and other violent crime happened long before firearms were invented. This is why guns have been refered to a the great equilizer. Someone without the physical ability to defend against an attacker can use a gun, this makes them equal in ability to an armed attacker. Removing guns from a criminals tool belt will not remove the criminals.

especially much all gun violence is from gang suitable events and various of the gun suitable deaths are a effect of suicide. If a guy can no longer kill himself with a gun he might desire to bounce from a bridge or in front of on coming site visitors so perhaps we would desire to consistently ban those issues as nicely. you is often conscious that the areas that have the optimal expenditures of crime are the bigger cities which even tend to be greater liberal. I sent you some preparation which additionally should clarify this.

No.

Criminals will misuse any thing as a weapon, not just a gun. And criminals will always find a way to get their hands on a weapon. Criminals acquire guns to sell to other criminals, its called 'gun running', and its done all the time.

Don't hurt the law abiding citizen to stop crime.
Don't hurt the innocent to punish the guilty.

American markets are possibly over saturated with guns.
maybe they could be purchased through a government office where you had to prove your ability to carry through certification and safety training.

Make it illegal to buy or sell guns through any method other than a government regulated place.
Certification would be needed to purchase any kind of firearm including rifles and shotguns.
as well as the current mandatory background check.

yes. if we start manufacturing guns the gun-related crimes will stop. the best way to stop something from spreading or being rampant is by eliminating it completely.

no. it would mean that criminals couldn't get American guns on the black market so they'd be buying things like AK-47s and UZIs. they're much more efficient killing machines.
