I never noticed a mucus plug with my first pregnancy and I haven't seen one yet with this one. I think the misconception is that it always comes out in one chunk when in reality it can come out in tiny peices, which are harder to notice.
Or maybe it's an urban legend? =)

Maybe yours came out over a period of time as discharge and you didn't notice or you lost it during a bowel movement. Everyone has a mucous plug-how you lose it is what makes every persons experience different.

Tons! I didn't know until my OB told me it was gone! I lost mines @ like 6 1/2-7 mos. Its easy to overlook when you already have excretions on a daily basis. It doesn't come out looking like a cork would LOL! All i remember is wiping like 10 times one day a bunch of mucous. I found out later what it was.

I had my son a month ago and to my knowledge I didnt lose it until I was induced but for some people it can come out alittle bit at a time. My friend lost hers at 35 weeks and it was the whole thing.

I lost mine during labor. I seen it with the last 2. I wouldn't have noticed if the nurse didn't point it out.

Hi, I had 4 children and the only time I noticed it was with my 3rd child. I had no idea what it was, no one had ever told me about it. It was like, ewwwwuuuuuu, what is that?

Most lose it in labor. Only a few will lose it before then. Ask your dr about it. He'll show you a picture of where it is located.
