The information on inheritance of freckles is confusing, to say the least. The number of sources that say freckles are dominant to no freckles is roughly equal to the number of sources that say the opposite.

If you are working a problem and your textbook or teacher has provided you with the ff genotype for freckles, then you should assume that freckles are recessive.
Parents: ff x ff (both without freckles)
F1: all ff (all offspring without freckles)

If freckles are dominant, then parents with freckles could have kids with or without freckles
Parents FF x FF would have kids all with freckles
Parents FF x Ff would have kids all with freckles
Parents Ff X Ff could have kids with freckles (3/4 chance) or without (1/4 chance).

If the parents carry the recessive gene then yes the child could have freckles. But if both parents are only FF (dominant for non-freckles) and do not carry the recessive gene, then no.

Its like the same when asking about hair color. My cousins parents have naturally dark brown hair..and yet my cousin has natural light blonde hair.

I believe that the genes for freckles are recessive and they would only be shown if there is no dominant gene. So if the parents have a recessive gene it would depend on wheter or not they pass the dominant gene to their child. If they pass the dominant gene on, they won't, if they don't pass the dominant gene on they will have freckles.
