I'm tired of hearing about popping and locking it and stilletto thugettes and sex and drinking and...R&B sounds alike. What happened to neosoul? What happened to political rap? What happened to the diverse Black music?

Main stream rap?alot of it is finding how many rhymes one can make using certain topics in combinations for example:
REAL stuff---
how much my houses, cars, + bikes are worth?
party time, get on the dance floor, get money and hos, pass me a drink, I love how you shake, big b@@ty ho, I am bad a@s, punk.
I'll kill you, fool---
IF I were not so busy writing songs, refining my craft, spending hours in studio, promoting, arranging, performing at events, concerts, tours, meeting with accountants, meeting with interior designers, meeting publicists to find ways to increase my edgy image, and partying to be seen, etc. My life is tough (especially with all these haters)---only real thugs can relate. I am so hot. I am so cool. Drug king pin that chooses to do rap instead.

Sometimes I do get tired of it--but then they put it to a different beat and create a new dance to help sell the product and we all buy it up...I think it is not that serious--it is just fun.People just want to have fun, money, material things, lots of people admiring them or attracted to them..

All rap is not the same though. Some actually have something to say. They have messages their listeners might actually be able to relate to. R&B does not all sound the same to me either. I also listen to some rock, reggae, classical music and 80s songs. We need inspiration to get out of the rut rap is in at present.

Gee, does this question have anything to do with the Imus/Sharpton fiasco? Did so-called "black leaders" finally provoke this question after a decade plus of this kind of music because they looked ridiculous criticizing Imus? Why didn't anyone say anything when rappers were talking about killing each other (and eventually followed through with it)? Oh wait a sec, people did say something back then, except they didn't have the right skin color and were labeled racist for criticizing this "art". Amazing that race-hucksters like Jesse can still give marching orders.

There's still some good R&B out there but the Rap is way out of control. Bittches, ho's, etc.. How can we let these people disrespect young ladies like this...and many of the female singers are just as bad. It is the decline of our society I'm telling you. What happened to the beauty, the music that is about LOVE? Where's the soul?

Unfortunately Black American music reflects Black American Culture. I am very sorry if you find that harsh but I cannot see any other conclusion.

Where do you think Imus got the term "Nappy Headed Hos"? He did not get that term from Elitist culture. He got it from Black Culture. It is a sad situation for Black Culture was once inspirational but no longer.

i absoultley despise rap and hip hop, and all that other crap. however, there are some other really good african american musicians/vocalists in other genres. B.B. King, Cowboy Troy, the O Jays, a whole bunch of the boogie/disco dudes. however most of them ain't that recent, so, i would definitely agree that the african american musicians/vocalists of the past years are WAY better than those of today.

It ain't square dance music, but it's OK. Seriously? I don't totally understand all of the music that is put out today, but it is what the generation likes and they have a right to like it (as long as disco stays buried). Sometimes I think to myself "What the F--- is this stuff" but my father said the same thing about what I listened to (Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead)... today's generation is someday going to look at a future generation's music and say (hopefully to themselves) "What the F--- is this stuff" I'll almost guarantee it.

Yeah I agree. Its very rare that someone comes out with a good song anymore. You can pretty much make a song out of anything now a days. (Chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side???, Lip gloss????) I miss the music of the late 80's and 90's) Nobody gets creative or puts thought into their music anymore.

Hip Hop sucks! Bring back the old R&B singers. These brothers of today cant even sing. Well, some can, but not many.
