I am extremely distraught after hearing the news of the shooting/ massacre at VT school. I myself attend college and although you may not know everyone personally at the school , you feel a bond and relationship with them somehow, I am sure those of you that attend or have attended a college know what I mean, or for any school in that matter. what could have caused a person to be so evil?

All I can imagine is the terror and horror that the students and teachers felt and how they must have begged for mercy before he killed them. how can you look at a person begging for theri lives then kill them? I wish he lived so he could suffer in prison? do you ?

Also after 9/11 people became prejudice towards anyone who looked of middle eastern descent, will this cause you to look at asains differently?

please pray for teh families and friends of those who lost their lives.
may you have a blessed day!

I know the pain of those who are suffering at VT. Two of my classmates were murdered on campus when I was in college. They're going through the same thing I went so the feeling is very familar.

As for race, we have no idea what this guy's motivation was. We do know he was very quiet, a loner and one of his teachers said he seemed trouble. It could've been anything. An American could be as troubled as he was so I don't know if it has to do with race. I do think it's wrong to believe that this has to do with racism just because he was a guy from korean killing so many people who were not korean but guess what I found out earlier? One of the students who was killed was also korean so I don't think this is a racism issue.

The guy who killed my classmates in college was from Guam and both victims were white and Americans and no one ever accused him of being a racist. As it turned out, it had nothing to do with race. Both students were robbed of money and he choose his victims because they lived alone and were vulnerable. Nothing to do with them being white. So let's wait and see what the police said. Hopefully we will find the motivation of the VT's gunman soon.

We don't need to put the blame on a specific race or group , like we did in 9/11. The fact is a sick person is a sick person regardless of race, religious beliefs, gender etc. The guy who went on the rampage at Virginia Tech was beyond disturbed and it's a shame he wasn't captured before he killed himself, much like the Columbine Massacre.

If we are going to start lumping psychos into groups based solely on race, then the white race that I'm a part of is in serious trouble for the crazed things white people have done in the past. Dark things like Slavery, hostile land-taking from the Native Americans, politically oppressive global expansion, and not to mention most of America's most infamous serial killers were all white.

But that doesn't mean all of white people are psychotic killers, just like all black people are not gangmembers, all germans were not nazis, all muslims are not religious psychos, we cant keep stereotyping groups. All groups have darksides but that only represents a faction of them.

At the end of the day , I hope the best for the victims of this tragedy and I hope better steps are taken next time to prevent this kind of horror, but sadly, it will happen again , its inevitable. I just hope the next time, the culprit is captured and brought before the victims families to face the proper justice.

As someone who works at a large public University of an equivalent academic standing, size, etc. I think that there was a lot more going on than meets the eye. For example, we were discussing it among the staff of dorm I run (which is our campus equivalent of the VTech one). It would have been next to impossible to close down campus that quickly during finals season wherein all students and staff are notified. Beyond that, students here would have just gone to coffee houses and the like to study. As a student, the shooter would have known that and redirected his anger. I think it was a bad egg who was the shooter and university and police who were unpreprepared for an unprecedented event. No one else needs to be blamed but the shooter.

9/11 and the shootings at VT are apples and oranges.

9/11 was targeted at America. The shootings at VT was done by a disturbed individual. Racism has nothing to do with it unless you want it to.

Until I find out more about this killer who was from South Korea, I don't know. I am glad he shot himself. At least the families of the dead and injured didn't have to go through a trial. They can have closer sooner this way.

The first thing I thought of being from the "West Coast" was racism!!! I'm scared to death of people from those "Southern type of states!!" Reminds me of the movie "Deliverance" to much!!! And here comes this "Asian" trying to fit, in, God only know's what these Deliverance type's of student's tried to do to the poor guy, before he became a "Psycho!!" I'm sorry but I saw the movie, you wont catch me even going to visit my sister who lives in Texas!!! And my Step Dad told us what that state was about, all insest, and nothing but 'Red-Neck's" Sounded pretty scary to me!!!

NO, it was not Races, right now they really have no idea what caused him to do what he did, they may not ever know the true story about what drove him to this end. Sickness, rage, failure, no friends: no one will ever true know. He mite not have known himself what drove him to it. All they do know is he shot anyone that got in the line of firer.
