a psp is a multimedia system. yes, it plays some games that were ported over from playstation 2, and there are a few games that are psp only. when you buy some memory, you can play movies, among other things. it's sorta like a walkable computer. but be careful if you upgrade - ask for advice on whether or not you should first. also, very fragile, not recommended for children under the age of 10 (or even a few years older perhaps..)
a gameboy is a handheld system by nintendo to play games. gameboy games are hardly ever just nintendo games ported over; it has hundreds of its own games. (i'll assume you are talking about gameboy advance). it's the most durable system of the three mentioned
a nintendo DS is a handheld system by nintendo as well, with a microphone and a touch screen, to add to gameplay. as a bonus, it comes with the engine required to play GBA games. it's a pretty durable system.

IT all depends on what you like in games and here is what I know about them. My BF owns a PSP and I own a DSLite and they are totally different experience, different market group and has totally different features.
PSP: A SONY product, so if you like Playstation games over Nintendo games this would be something you'd like. They have better variety, more graphics, if you have the right memory for it you can load movies, songs and vidoes on this nifty device and walk around with it.
DSLite and gameboy: DS LIte is just a way better version of the gameboy with touch screen capability. The game plays are unique coz you intereact on the touch screen. It is a cool experience. The games are more suttle, they are not focused on shooting or racing games. They are good for virtual life, puzzle games etc.
Both comes with Wifi! So its up to you, every gamer has preferences so you have to weight yours.

The good: The Sony PSP is a slick portable gaming system highlighted by an impressive wide-screen display and PS2-like graphics. It also boasts built-in Wi-Fi, a Web browser, and the ability to play music and videos, as well as to store images.
The bad: The Sony PSP's multimedia functionality is underwhelming, especially for video, requiring expensive memory cards. The load times on the UMD games can be excessive.
The bottom line: The Sony PSP elevates portable gaming to the next level, but its multimedia functionality falls short of its full potential.

Beyond the basic hardware
Comfortable in the hand, the GBA bristles with four keys that are logically placed for frenzied button-pushing. You could even mistake it as controller for a set-top console, which is actually part of Nintendo's grand plan. With a port located at the top of the device, you can hook this GBA into Nintendo's upcoming and have it serve as an additional controller. This port serves other purposes, too. Buying an additional cable will allow you to hook together as many as four GBAs for more competition from your neighbors.

The good: The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS. The device employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay as well as Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities, allowing for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system. In addition, the system is backward-compatible with almost every GBA title. All these additions come without increasing the price or decreasing the features of the original DS.
The bad: Playing online games via Wi-Fi can be a hassle. The darker models are just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod, and its multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan.
The bottom line: With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS.

Like many users had said above, I agree with them. PSP is one of the best handheld, standing next to it is the DS and the last one is Gameboy Advance. Remember DS can play Gameboy games, but the games are pretty boring. PSP games and movies are expensive, people tried to download games from other websites. Unfortunately, these website are illegal even if you pay money, it still illegal because they ripped off the current game and start selling them, that makes game companies begin to loosing their money because people just download and download, they don't care that these companies spend their time making the games.

GameBoy was from nintendo it was very simple. It only played games.
DS lite is made by nintendo. it is cool because it has a touch screen which you touch with a stylus that controls the game.

I think PSP is the best. You can do a lot more things on it. Besides playing games, you can watch movies, listen to music, take pictures, and more!
