I've recently bought an Exigo 4GB usb flach memory stick. It seemed fine for first days. Now when i save or update word files it won't reopen them - it shows the file conversion screen or just comes up in unicode. It seems to be corrupting PowerPoint files when i save them to. It it doing this for a reason and can i change it, or are these just crap unreliable memory sticks???
i bought it of ebay if that makes a difference!

Massive number of low capacity SUB sticks have been reprogrammed in the far east (especially China) to look like they have 1Gb, 2Gb 4Gb or even 8Gb when all that exists is 256 or 128Mb ....

It's not just ebay that is flooded with these fakes - even Amazon got with a bad batch.

Once the 128Mb or 256Mb (less the directory space) has been used up files will 'pretend' to write OK but actually they are being written over the top of each other.

One clue is it takes ages to write files. The other is that the first few hundred bytes are OK - the rest is 'padding' from the start of other files...

there is alot of records restoration utility obtainable and that they oftentimes make you pay for them regrettably.. might I recommend you attempt utilising the test rigidity for undesirable sectors too. in case you pass into my desktops, top click on the flash rigidity pass to residences then strategies then verify quantity for blunders see if that helps or perhaps run a defrag on it.. all properly worth a shot in the previous buying restoration utility. Sorry i could no longer be lots extra help.
