No One should be able to buy a gun. And please don't give me the 2nd amendment. It says the "right to bear arms in a well organized militia" IE the army or the police department. It is time for America to grow up and put the gun cultural behind us.

as to a separation between non citizens and citizens again grow up, the killer at Virginia Tech had been here since he was eight years old. He was American.

Absolutely NOT!!
What we have - so-called "Gun Control" - does not work for U.S. citizens, and we should allow foreigners to carry?
Interesting that the 24/7 News Channels are now debating shouldn't we ALL carry guns ALL the time in the event a "CHO" shows up and starts killing innocent children and Holocaust survivors?
I could go on forever. I have a license, which was rather difficult to obtain, and am considering carrying even when not working. Is this right? These folks had no chance to defend themselves - guns aren't allowed on college campuses. Right...

Having a green card does not a citizen make. Some of the 9/11 guys had valid green cards. Where is our government??

No!
Violent criminals also should not be able.

That said, the 2nd amendment should remain as it is, along with the rest of The Constitution. Changes do not need to be made to The Constitution for any reason.

The problem is that at many gun shows in certain states, anyone can walk up and purchase a firearm by simply showing an ID. We have all heard of or seen cases where getting a fake ID is all too easy.

I also agree that criminals will always be able to get their hands on guns. But anything we can do to make it harder for them benefits us all.

I personally think we'd benefit if we restricted ALL GUN PURCHASES in this country... not just for NON US citizens.

Just as a little reminder by the way... the second amendment says nothing about "the right to bear arms." The only way it says that at all is if you remove some words from it. It says "a well-regulated militia, being necessary for the security of the free state... the government shall not infringe." The words "regulated" and "militia" are in the first sentence. I don't think the Framer's were thinking of a mentally disturbed college student with a Glock 9 and a chip on his shoulder.

Did you know that if you combine the populations of Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Australia you've got a population roughly the size of the United States? We had 32,000 gun deaths last year and they had 112. Do you think it's because Americans are more homicidal by nature? Or do you think it's because those guys have gun control laws?

Unequivocally, no. This is the flawed logic that is being applied from this tragedy. Whoever sold that madman a gun has exactly equal responsiblity for these deaths. Their is no excuse for this man getting this weapon so easily. That has nothing to do with gun control in this nation. We should have uniform laws regarding the sale of firearms, no one should question that. That in way is to suggest that we should wholly restrict gun ownership, but we do need more stringent laws. However, I could have given the kid the names of 3 gangbangers I know who would have sold him any number of weapons without any restrictions.

The argument here should not be about keeping guns out of the hands of citizens of this country, but non-citizens do not hold the same rights we do.

NO.

Maybe they should have protections, such as self incrimination and humane treatment, but not the right to bear arms.

Also why does congress refuse to place on your records treatment for mental issues? If this mans record had shown he had been treated he would not have been able to purchase weapons.

So there are two things CONGRESS could have done to prevent the shooting in VA, prevent aliens from purchasing weapons and require you to sign a HIPA waiver to have your records checked. Perhaps congress should be apologizing to the families who lost children and family.

We the people means the CITIZENS of the United States.

Any adult with a clean criminal record can buy a gun in the US. That's the law.

How would the NRA view your question? (not that I support the NRA)

What are the laws in other countries regarding non-citizens?

Do a little research and get back to me. I don't know the answer to this one.

BTW, do you happen to own any firearms for home protection? I'm just curious; nothing more.

if this is a reference the the VA-Tech shooting.. the guy had his green card.. he was a US citizen... otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get a gun... but anyway.. on to the meat of the question.. I don't know.. I really haven't given it much thought... some may want to go hunting... and they can go fishing so why not hunting?.. but it shouldn't be as easy as showing up and buying one that's for sure... they aren't a citizen.. it shouldn't be as easy as it is for a citizen... I'll have to give this one more thought.

Yes, they helped us win wars, and rebel against England.

The are guaranteed that right by the 2nd amendment.

Just because some conservative gun nut shoots up a school is no reason to take away our rights.

If this is about the Virginia Tech murders, consider that at Columbine, the murderers were US Citizens, so their citizenship is not relevant.
