It is true only for a POSITIVE c.
So it is not always true.

If a If axc>bc.

Example 1.
a 2 < 4 < 6

Now if c is positive, like 2, then
ac
But if c is negative, like -2, then
ac = -4, xc = -8 and bc = 12
and it is NOT TRUE that -4 < -8 < -12
because -4 > -8 > -12 !

Example 2.
a 1/8 < 1/4 < 1/2

take c positive, c = 4.
Then ac
take c positive, c = -4.
Then ac -1 >-2.

Hope this helps.

The problem is asking: If you have a smallest number, a bigger number, and a biggest number, and you multiply each of them by the same nonzero whole number, are your results still in the same order, or did the order change?

Try a=10, x=20, b=30, c=5.

We do have 10 < 20 < 30.
Is (10x5) < (20x5) < (30x5) ?
50 < 100 <150, so yes.

Try a few more choices of a, x, b, c. Try a negative number for c.

it's telling you that C is a whole number (not a fracture) and is a nonzero, so it's positive or negative. substitute C wih whole positive/negative numbers and check if the given hypothesis (ac

yes, if a=1,x=2,b=3, (or anything as long as it works in least to greatest) if c=, say, 2: ac=2, xc=4, and bc=6. The equation still works.

all it's doing is asking you that if a is less than x and x is less than b, is it also true when you multiply those three by a given number c? for example, if a=1, x=2, and b=3 then your statement is true. a is less than x and x is less than b. now if you multiply all those numbers by c=5. then you get 5<10<15, which is true. but if you multiply them by c=-5 you get -5< -10 < -15, which is not true.
