well technically we do not have the right to BEAR arms. Meaning most of us are not allowed to carry weapons on our person. Even if we made a big billboard that says "I HAVE A GUN AND IT IS NOT LOADED" and have no bullets on you. You would be in deep crap with the law enforcement.
I personally think that the government should restrict handguns because honestly, what citizen uses handguns for hunting or something like that? If they were less easily concealable we might not have a big shooting like at V Tech. But this is highly debateable. I think if the government will not allow us to own firearms or heavily restricts it then we are in serious trouble!

The right to bear arms was established to protect the people against an overbearing government. If the government tries to infringe upon our right to bear arms, then they are fulfilling the fear of our founding fathers. Certainly if we can protect ourselves against the government, we should be able to protect ourselves against other citizens.
Unfortunately, to ban arms would leave cops and criminals as the only armed individuals with a helpless few caught in between. The black market in guns will expand exponentially. Many law abiding citizens will become technically criminals because they will be unwilling to disarm. The alternative is to allow total armament and then I fear that we will have the "shoot first and ask questions later" mentality. The emergency rooms will fill up with gunshot wounds. That means that we have to leave things as they are and try to convert the people away from anger and violence.

Do you know that every Swiss citizen is legally required to have his military equipment at home, including guns (M57 automatic assault rifles) and ammo ? They keep a very small army, but can mobilize the whole country in 2-3 hours !!! That's one of the reasons Switzerland was never invaded, and during WW2, Nazis were at war with the whole world, including US, UK, and Russia, they went 2000 miles east up to the gates of Moscow, but not in Switzerland, and please check where Switzerland is on the map...
Now, how many times have you heard about shootings in Switzerland ??? The gun crime rate is a small fraction of the American rate, and in fact it's so low that statistics are not even kept... The same for Israel, they all have guns, assault rifles, even machine guns at home, but you'll never see a Swiss killing another Swiss or an Israeli killing another Israeli...
I think it's a matter of EDUCATION and CULTURE, which lead to TOLERANCE and RESPECT for others. Forcing people to obey stupid laws and gun control is NOT the answer, that can only lead to rebellion and more chaos. Sane, responsible, educated FREE people do not have any reason to take a gun and shoot another human being ...

Now these days, liberals and democrats/ left wingnuts are trying to change the way the constitution is interpreted. it's their dream to live in a gun free, government controlled nation. And all this talk about "assault weapons", what is an "assault weapon"? An assault weapon is any weapon that looks scary, that's why the liberals try to ban it. They live to ban things. They banned fireworks in my state, now it's up to the government to do the fireworks, and they said it was too expensive. Now I'm sure they'll call the 4th of July racist, and ban it. They defend every other religion, value, ethnicity and belief except American. They'll never stop until they completely ban our guns and our freedom. Look what they've done thus far. They're salami-slicing. Taking away little bitty pieces of our rights away, and they'll continue to do so until we no longer have gun rights. They take away small pieces at a time so no one will notice. They've banned the pledge of alliance, they've banned our guns, they've legalized gay marriage and legalized the executions of babies. They only legalize what they want, and make illegal the things they don't want. Why do they want to take out guns and our freedom? I don't know. Why did Hitler, Mussolini, Joseph Stalin and all the other dictators and their followers want to have a communist country? I guess they just like it when they are in control of other people. I guess it's a power trip. I'm not sure why liberals want to take our freedom from us, but I do know that they are just communists who want to be powerful and take away freedom from the hard working people of America.

People should have a right to defend themselves and bare arms. I beleive this situation might not have been much different if students were allowed to have guns, but when it comes down to it is about the individual not the gun itself. Maybe people need to go through better training if they choose to arm themselves but people should have the right to bear arms.

One of the MAIN things to keep in mind is one of the tenents of theNWO is to take away the right of citizens to have firearms.
If you take a look at the overall scope of things firearms and the removal of the farming industry are 2 goals yet to be met by theNWOrder.
