I've read two books and looked at at least 10 different sites and not one of them says how long the siege lasted. All I get is that is happened on 11th Sept. 1649. Does that mean it only lasted that one day? If that's right, does that mean the whole town of Drogheda surrendered in one day??? I'm trying to do an essay on it and I'm completely lost-anyone got any useful information on the Siege? thanks :D

the siege in 1641 was under Phleim O Neill or someone, I'm just concentrating on Cromwell...thanks for making me freak out and think I read the wrong book though! :)

Actually he did not lay siege to Drogheda in 1649, preferring rather to assault the garrison and slaughter all of the defenders, which he did. The real siege happened eight years earlier.
