I am pregnant with my first child - 18 weeks. I too have wondered how much truth there is in these old wives tales and was convinced that I was having a girl for the following reasons: 1. I'm carrying high 2. the baby has a very high heartbeat 3. I've been sick since the day I found out I was pregnant 4. My belly looks like a watermelon, not round like a basketball. Well...I had an amnio at 16 weeks and now know with 100% certainty that I am having a boy! Surprise - the old wives tales are just that - only for fun and not based on medical fact.

Well I always heard if you were carrying high it was a boy & if low a girl. Anyhoo, I carried high and had a girl(pop there goes that myth!)--& my sister carried both her kids low and had boys both times so I really believe there is not one ounce of truth in that. I mean you and I even have heard the tale the total opposite way.....people can't keep it straight cuz it ain't true!! I think how you carry has all to do with how ur uterus is tilted and genitics--but nothing to indicate the sex. If so doctors would have figured it out by now and not use ultra sounds but just look @ how u carry and tell you. LOL! I don't know how you guys can do it though....the curiosity would ware my nerves to a frazzle!

I've heard that if the weight is mostly in your stomach and not distributed all over your body, it is most likely a boy. I'm due a few days before you (June 9th) and almost everyone else I've seen or met are having the babies of the same sex. It's such a coincidence. I've only met about 4 people who were having the opposite sex. I won't tell you the sex because I want you to keep it a surprise. Congrats and good luck!

How you carry -- high vs. low, compact vs. very big -- has mostly to do with the strength and tone of your abdominal muscles/ligaments and whether or not you've been pregnant before.
To some extent, the way you carry can also relate to the amount of weight you gain, the amount of abdominal fat you have, the size of the baby, and the position of the uterus. Obviously it has nothing to do with the baby's gender. Why would it?
Anyway, if you want to know the baby's gender, ask at your next ultrasound. Also, keep in mind that any guess at the baby's gender has approximately a 50-50 chance of being correct.
good luck!

it depends on what your uterus is like on how high or low you are! i have had a boy and a girl each pregnancy i was carrying low! people would say to me your carrying a boy because its low when i was having a girl and the same when i was carrying my son they would say it was a girl but wasnt. some people beleive in these things but its just rubbish, the shape of your belly depends on you not the gender of a baby! good luck for june 9th

Supposedly, boys are carried decrease and girls are carried bigger, yet lower back, in basic terms yet another better halves tale! i'm donning very low and am having a boy, yet i think of there is in straight forward terms a 50/50 risk of that. i'm approximately 27 weeks, and that i comprehend what you mean with regard to the tension whilst the toddler is being carried low. optimistically yours strikes up slightly bigger through fact my little boy has in basic terms dropped even extra desirable contained in the final week and the tension may be very uncomfortable! and the consistent kicking of the bladder...

With my first who was born 2/2006, I carried SUPER low...and I had a boy. My sister in law is prego now and she is actually carrying dangerously low (per the doctor) and she is having a boy...so to sum it up, yes I believe in that wives tale!!

I carried high with my first son and I'm carrying low with my second son so I don't really think that has much basis. But the whole basketball shaped is a boy and watermellon is a girl does seem true. I look more like a beachball but there is not watermellon shape at all. Then again I'm short so maybe I'm different.
