These #s are for the steering stem nut.
2000-2003 Yamaha YFZR600 - 83ft lb
2004 Kawasaki ZX600R - 93ft lb
95ft lbs is good for your bike.
(+) or (-) 10 ft lbs won't make much of a difference. Not all torque wrenches are perfectly calibrated.

If you're talking about the nut under the upper triple clamp -
--With the entire front end assembled, jack up the bike until the front wheel is just off the ground and the bike is level (as if you were sitting on it).
--Tighten the nut firmly.
--With the wheel pointing straight ahead, touch the handle bars just enough to cause the forks to turn. They should turn all the way to the steering stop on their own.
--Keep tightening until the forks won't turn all the way and start backing it off a bit at a time.

There is'nt one. Just tighten until the steering is free to turn and there is no free play. Grasp the forks at the bottom of the legs and pull and push (with the wheel off the deck) there should be no free play.
Don't forget to slacken the yolk clamps before making any adjustment.
If the steering has any notchiness in it or there is a tendancy for the bars to self centre then the bearings are knackered and will have to be replaced. It's amazing what new bearings can do to the handling.

If you Email me I can send you the manual pages for a Suzuki VX 800..
it gives the torque settings & tells you how to reassemble the head stem...apparently they use a spring balance to check the amount of force required to move the triple clamps...

would think that most of the settings would be similar on all bikes......

Are you a beginner? If definite, then the two motorcycles should not be seen. I strongly advise no longer commencing with a a hundred and fifty plus mph (240 km) highway criminal highway racing motorcycle it extremely is poor for any distance driving, will avert the motorcycle skills gaining expertise of curve, no room for kit, no secure practices from the climate, and poor for 2 up driving. in case you return to a determination to race vehicles, you will a great deal boost the percentages of being killed in an accident once you speed way previous your means point. highway racing continually seems undesirable. particularly for a motorcyclist. Please study articles below to place this count into appropriate context.
