You should buy your chlorine from a reputable pool supply store. It is stronger than like Wal-Mart brand of chlorine. Which will take less chlorine to keep your level up. Also ask them about chlorine stabalizer. It will help hold the chlorine level in your pool.

Prices are pretty much standard. Depends on if you buy granular, liquid or tablets. I paid about $1 a gallon for liquid. A pool cover helps preserve chlorine when the pool is not in use. It evaporates into the air. Be careful if you use a floater with tablets in it. If you have a vinyl or plastic liner and the floater sinks, it will eat a hole in the liner.
