would we see better performances from our teams if the cricketers played the football and the footballers played the cricket?

England are the second best Test cricket nation in the world and probably the 6th best ODI nation.

OK this may be because there arent 180 football nations but I think people get a bit hysterical about defeats.

England's footballers are defeated, not because they are bad players but because they really can't be arsed.

Man U or Liverpool would beat England

Sussex or Lancashire would not beat England.

Even though I am a woman (don't discount what I am saying... keep reading lol) I think that English football is becoming technically deficient - it seems that the English regard pace and physical skills higher than technical skills? So when they meet a technical slower paced team they can't find a way to win?

Is this true or just my perception

It might be a problem from the junior levels - who knows, but something needs to be done.

How many of England's say top 20 footballers are as technically gifted as the top players in the world?

I have said enough - be interested to see what people think!

Best Wishes

Shelly

During the 2005 Ashes they showed Lampard doing some nets with the England team and he was pretty decent. As for Pietersen up front?? Football is much stricter on players playing for countries other than their birth nation than cricket is. I don't think the FA would have him, so he would have to go back to Bafana Bafana and cope abuse from Smith behind the goals....

Actually Frank Lampard is supposed to be a bloody good batsman and could have played county cricket rather than football, give him a go, he could not be any worse than the shower of shite we have playing for us at the moment.

good idea!!!!! flintoff in goal and pieterson upfront ... and lampard and gerrard can open the batting!!!!!

the problem is that the media protrays us as a great sporting nation when in fact we are only ever mediocre to poor we get one good player in a sport every few years and they latch on like they are the new messiah but there just is no investmnet in domestic sport in this country! and with local councils building houses on playing fields its only going to get worse! evertone need to say look ok we arent that good at sport but we know we are going to invest and in a few years you just wait we will be right up there!

I wouldn't want to see that. Lampard missing wickets instead of goals. Rooney fighting with the umpire. Buffon wicket keeping . . . . - Gibbs socring six goals in six minutes. Hayden scoring most goals. Okay that is more than enough to help you with my point. Although it would be fun seeing the opposite players fail miserably.
