It means that the engine ECM is detecting increased emissions. This usually means that the engine needs to be checked ( it is most commonly called a check engine light) for a bad component or sensor. The symbols used by all automotive and industrial companies are the same from one company to another and are standardized.

It's a check engine light. Is it on when you drive or instantly when you start your car? If it is the latter, then it is working fine and no worries. However, if it comes on when you are driving then it is a problem you need to have checked out by a mechanic. You could always buy an code reader if it is (applicable for your car) to check out the code.

It's a check engine light. It means one (or more) of the systems the computer is monitoring is returning a signal outside the range it expects to see. You take the vehicle to your mechanic who will scan the error codes, and tell you what is wrong.

It's the check engine light. Something, probably an electrical component, has tripped it. Sometimes it's just your gas cap. The only way to know for sure is to take it to a mechanic and have them hook it up to their computer.

Means that the computer has popped a code, and you need to take it to a repair shop to get the codes checked to see what the problem is. Then they can go from there to fix it or not. Good luck.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if it goes away :)

Usually this resets the computer
