Cause he's dumb and shouldn't be president. Virginia Tech is very close to D.C. so it makes it very convenient for him to get there. New Orleans and Mississippi are further away and i truly believe he doesn't care for disasters. He cares more about the war in Iraq than anything...he barely gave the Katrina area enough money to get everything done and its still not done to this day. But Iraq can get all the money it needs....Not fair at all...

After Katrina, rescue and relief efforts were in full swing; a Presidential visit early on would have taken resources away from this. Everybody would have complained, and rightly so, if he had swooped in for a photo op.
The crisis in Virginia is over: the dead counted and identified, the wounded tended to. There's no reason to stay away.

I agree with the second person. Everything was underwater as I remember on the news it showed Bush right there with the people talking to them, hugging them. He can't be everywhere. I think he is doing the best he can. I respect people's opinions but ask yourself this.. Can you do his job any better??? He is one person dealing with many crisis. Give him a break. After all he is human and nobody is perfect.

Katrina left the area in a disaster. How on earth was he suppose to show up in New Orleans the next day when it was UNDER WATER for weeks?

CNN reported that the President was shocked to hear that 30+ people were killed due to violence, yet I have never heard anybody report that the president is shocked to hear that troops are dying everyday due to his personal vandata against iraq.
