I'm sorry, I can't let "kooks on a rampage" stand in the way of smart policy.

I'd trade our violent crime rate for England's, any day.

Josh, it's far from clear that an individual's right to own guns is in the bill of rights.

You really think that that would result in no more gun violence?
You have any idea how many guns come into teh USA illegally on a regular basis?
If 2-3 million illegals come across the southern border illegally every year and they only apprehend a small amount of them how hard is it for them to bring guns with them.

And btw if you do a search on gun crime in England in recent years you will see that your no more gun violence theory isnt working and gun violence there has been on a dramatic increase.

That statement represents outright stupidity. (Notice I'm not point trolling here). Ask yourself some questions. Whose guns do the the government know about? Whose guns do they not know about? So whose guns would they take away?
Who would be left without a gun? Get a clue before you speak on a subject.

Better yet why don't you join the South Central L.A. gun removal team. Just go door to door like you said and respectfully ask all residents for their guns. Go ahead its your idea.

I think it's a great idea, and as an incentive, everyone who surrenders their weapons peacefully or who doesn't have weapons to start with would automatically get a $2500.00 deduction from their taxes the following year.

Those who resist, however, should be met with the utmost force and ultimately should have plenty of time to consider their arrogance during the five to ten years they spend in federal prison for their crime.

Kind of like how Prohibition stopped all alcohol production and consumption. Nothing bad like organized crime, tainted booze, mafia violence, and murder came from that right?

Kind of like how criminalizing abortion will stop all abortions, not like that would create a demand for back-alley abortions and eventually do more harm due to the increase of botched abortions right?

You know, people have murdered others through drowning.
No more water= no more water violence!!!

That has got to be the most immature question and statement I've seen today.

Learn about what our rights are in this country.

As far as Guns, gun violence and confiscation, check out Australia. THE OPPOSITE HAPPENED.

No. Has anyone EVER suggested that? I mean, any American in current times?

It seems that some people dream up a bad scenario and then blame others for saying it when in fact no one ever said it. Know what I mean?

OK--I get it. I thought you were an NRA member who was voicing the typical "they're trying to take all our guns" fear. But you sure got folks stirred up, didn't you? This is another one of those volatile issues.

I just have two questions for you. What are you going to do if the government turn tyrannical? Become a slave? Reading just the stuff in newspapers, and the web, very few, if anyone really have much trust in their government. I am NOT just talking about the U.S. government, but government everywhere in the world. If you really believe the government is looking out after you, and protecting you, you are not in touch with reality. Government people have their own agendas.

I don't want them coming to my house to take anything. I am not sure why you would want to trade with the UK. They have more victims than us per capita. They also have more crime than us per capita. I am not to sure why you feel the second amendment is vague. Not to many legal scholars agree with you. I find it odd that someone like you would find the right for a women's right to choose where it is not mentioned anywhere in the document yet you find ambiguity in a amendment where it is specific.

Yes, but it will never happen. The gun lobby is far too powerful. And guns would be taken away from good citizens, and the criminals would still have them. Guns are against the law in Mexico for example, yet we all know the drug cartels run that country, and they have plenty of guns.

a hundred years ago, I am sure many viewed the twenty first century as a place without guns and a place without violence. What you are suggesting will never happen in this time, but I do foresee a time in the future when we are actually civilized and there won't be a need for guns. Call me an optimist.
