you can pick up a generic usb cable from any office store or electronic store. You can pick one from walmart, look for a bubble package with removable usb ends. If you have no clue on what kind of usb you have on your camera then take it to best buy or staples or even radio shack to determine what kind of mini usb plug you need. Ebay also have them cheap.

there are extension cables and converter cables (see sources)
the double ended cables for connecting two computers need some electronics inside of them (last on the sources list)

yeah. They make double ended ones, but you don't want to connect two machines with USB
use a network crossover cable instead
if one machine doesn't have a network card - get one for it
