I'm 37 weeks pregnant and today I went to the doctors to be weighed and checked etc... and I've lost 2.2 kilos (4.9 pounds).
Is it normal to lose weight in the last trimester? My doc wasn't too happy about it, but she didn't seem overly worried as baby was fine with a good strong heartbeat at 142 bpm.
I had a "one day bug" when I was sick 2 days ago, but I doubt I lost that much weight in 1 day!
Has this happened to anyone else? Could it be bad if I lose any more?
I eat well and have a pretty good diet.
Thanks. :-)

To all of you who kindly commented on my photo, I asked a question not an opinion on my body...
If u don't like the photo, don't look at it, just answer, and if u don't have a decent answer - don't bother!!!
See the thing is, I'm breaking no Yahoo rules with my photo, and I like it, and my partner likes it, and I've had certain positive comments from other Y!A users about it, but if I'm honest, I DON'T REALLY CARE, otherwise I would have gone to "Polls and Surveys" and asked "Do you like my photo?"

I LOVE YOUR PICTURE!!!
Pregnant bellies are BEAUTIFUL and you have every right to show yours off!!! I cannot believe the stupid, idiotic, mean and nasty people on here! Keep that picture...it's gorgeous!
As far as the weight...very well could be due to your stomach bug you had. Also, towards the end the baby is hogging all the room in there and you can't eat as much (I know I can't!). I'm assuming you'll be back in 1 week for another checkup...I would wait and see if you're still loosing a significant amount of weight. I wouldn't worry too much though, sounds like your baby is doing great! :)

Good Afternoon Krissy!!
It is not all that uncommon to loose a couple of pounds towards the end of pregnancy. If you don't continue to loose weight it is probably nothing to worry about. Ask yourself (and your doctor if you think there may be a problem):
Is the baby still growing?
Is the baby still moving and active (no significant change)?
Is my nutrition good? Am I eating enough protein, whole grains, dairy products, and vegetables, EVERY SINGLE DAY? By enough, I mean you need to eat enough calories (2500 - 3000 for most pregnant women) and protein (80 - 100 grams), 7 - 9 servings of grains, and 5 vegetable servings per day (one could be a high vit. c fruit), and 3-4 good calcium sources too. Drink plenty of water also.
If you can answer yes to all these questions then a slight drop in weight is not a concern, unless it continues to drop. I would also say that your one day "bug" contributed some.

u culd hav lost the weight wiv that bug u had. sounds silly i kno. but when i was abt 16 weeks i had a really bad bug. puking up EVERYWHERE (morning sickness had just stopped, then afta i got better started agn, typical) and when i went 2 the loo (every 2 seconds!) i wasn't really sure what end 2 put dwn if u get what i mean? anyway, i cnt remember exactly how much i lost, but it was a lot. BUT, u....like me...are 37 weeks, we only got 3 weeks left so they wont b overly worried that ur losing a bit of weight. i've managed to put on abt 3 stone while pregnant (think im fat dnt ya? lol. i were only 6 stone b4, so..9 stone n 5ft4...look healthy @ last!!!), and i assume u put on a lil more than they say u sulda? every1 does, its normal.
bare in mind, ur baby's drinkin sum of the fluid around him/her, and the 'waste' is going bk 2 ur thru the cord...then ur filtering it out so tehres some of the weight lost. add that 2 ur bug and BINGO, and explaination as 2 y u've lost the weight.
dnt 4get, if we hav our babies now, they're considered full term, so they'll b fine!!

It is very common to lose weight in your last trimester. Your whole body lacks room including your stomach.

Love your bump! Anal comments, what are those guys even doing on this forum if they can't look at a pregnant bod. Jealous or immature!
Quite common to loose weight in last few weeks prior to delivery, fluid changes etc. Fundal height better indicator of baby's progress, don't worry. Just make sure you're keeping hydrated in this warmer weather.
Good luck Petal.

I personally didn't lose any weight but I think it's pretty normal.
I would assume that it's a combo of the diet and the fact that you are active because at this stage of the game you feel pretty good. (I know I did)
I wouldn't worry about it unless your dr. brings up any concerns!

Have you been peeing or sweating a lot? It could be the excess fluid you retained during the last trimester. I GAINED five pounds a couple weeks ago-but that was due to hypertension and swelling. I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if your diet hasn't changed. Good luck!
BTW: Don't listen to the other people. I love the photo!

It happens. If it was more than what you lost, there would be cause for conern, but it's easy to lose weight when you're pregnant and sick since your metabolism is so fast right now. Just make sure you're eating enough and drinking enough water, and you'll be fine!

It could be possible you lost 2.2lbs while sick. I lost 3 in one day after having the flu. No reason to fret.
Good Luck & Gratz on a healthy baby =]
