Personally I couldn't care less about marriage. If I did I would only being trying to justify my life in the eyes of others. I couldn't care less about what anyone thinks of me. I'm perfectly content with making a commitment without the ridiculous ceremony or the baggage that comes with being 'married'. After all, what's the number one cause of divorce? MARRIAGE.

Yes. some of my more politically radical friends are opposed to marriage altogether. They see it as a property transaction which is inherently patriarchal, and believe gay people should not imitate an inherently oppressive institution.

I have some sympathy for this view, but I personally support the right of people to marry if they wish.

yes, a couple but they want civil unions with all the rights of marriage. Unfortunately most current state and federal laws tie rights to marriage only and side step civil unions.

Most people in the LGBT community are looking to win the war, not just a battle.

Of course. Look at the Republican Party. Demographically, there's no reason to believe that they don't have just as many gay people in their party as are in the general population. Some of the largest anti-gay individuals are, in fact, gay. People lie to themselves all the time.
