I'm TTC and my last couple of cycles have been quite irregular - like almost 8-10 over the usual date. Now I'm CD9 of my period and want to know from what day should I start testing with the ovulation sticks? I know the average fertility timing is two weeks after but what would apply in my case?

Also, should I start having sex now or only when I find out that I'm about to ovulate?

Thanks!

Women don't ovulate midway through their cycle, like the first poster said. And the online ovulation calendars are rarely accurate. Ovulation happens 10-16 days, with 14 being average, before the start of your next period. Average your last 3 cycles--for example, one was 28, 36, and 40 days---average of about 35 days--and count back 18 days--day 17 and start testing with the opk's.

You ovulate mid-way through your cycle, so take your average cycle length and divide by 2. Start testing a couple of days before that date, just to be sure not to miss it.

Why don't you start having sex now AND when you are about to ovulate. More fun that way. :) Good luck!

You can go to www.mycycle.com and keep track of your cycles as well as the days you ovulate. I just joined the site and it is awesome. Check it out, that way you will know the best time to use the ovulation test.

BEST OF LUCK
