I've been eagerly waiting for days now. I bought my fish about a week ago from the local store and when i got home i realised that one was showing the signs of pregnancy:
- being lethargic
- seperating itself from other fish
- huge belly
Would it be okay just to put her in a breeding trap until the fry are born or could that harm her? Please reply soon because she is starting to look pretty big. Thankyou.

When you move or otherwise stress a female livebearer that is near to birthing it is likely to cause her to die,or at least to ruin her fry.Sometimes it delays the birthing and that kills them. It sounds like that's your situation. There is nothing you can do, moving her again will surely kill her.NEVER handle female livebearers within two weeks of their time to drop.

Chances are if she was in the tank with the male mollies, she is prego. No doubt. It takes mollies approx. 28 days to have their fry, give or take. I have never seen a pregnant mollie lethargic or keeping to itself. They will still usually school and the male will still chase even though she is pregnant.

You can put her in the breeding net if you want just remember to feed her. This will not stress nor harm her and is a good idea if you feel she is close to having the fry.

She will be fine in the net even if she is in there over a week.

to first answer your quetion you need to possitively know if she is pregnant. although she may be big it may just be because she is a big fish. if she is pregnant she has something called a gavid spot which is a dark spot near her anus which is really the babies eyes showing through her skin. if you have only mollies in the tank with her i would not use any sort of breeding chamber beacuse it can put a lot of stress on the mother. you can just put more plants in. also if you have a filter that has big slots you MUST cover it with netting because the babies can and will get sucked up in there.
Hope this was helpful ♥
