I ask because I care and am always ready for an hour explanation on how they feel or how things are going. If I didn't care I wouldn't ask and just say "Hi".

if i dont want to hear i just dont ask...if i ask..i really do want to know whats going on in that person's life because i actually care.

It's how I ask, that makes me care or not care. Most of the times, I do care.

Usually it's just something to say - but there are times that I really want to know. Most people respond with - "good, how are you" - so if I really want an answer I'll tell them "seriously, I want to know how you are"

I just try to be polite because you know that if the person is having a bad day their not gonna tell you anyway.Most people tell you their fine even if their not.
